I hope the young man is ok first and foremost. After that, I’d like some investigation done into the size of his shoulder pads relative to what is recommended equipment to protect a player of his size. These shoulder pads have been getting smaller and smaller to gain advantage. If they are the right size the pads should lie over the area of the sternum relative to the heart.

The equipment these days is better and stronger than years gone by, but the players are bigger and faster too. Maybe what use to protect the past guys isn't relevant now, IDK, but your point is worth investigating,
The game doesn't have to be that fast or that brutal to be good.
I remember my equipment from the 70's and it would not stand up to today's, I'd get killed.
