That was the best episode of the series. She-Hulk and DD are fun together and have good chemistry. I liked the little jokes like the frog arcade game machines and the henchmen being "tadpoles."
Definitely the best ep yet. But that is a very low bar. I have been waiting for the DD cameo since the start, so not having him the earlier eps / having him in this ep probably define why I somewhat enjoyed this ep.

That said, was Cox sick while filming? He just seemed off during the courtroom scene. Maybe it was just that Charlie Cox has trouble with comedy…

The end of the episode was stupid. A stolen/leaked/filmed in secret (whatever) video of her in a “private” setting is shown during a big moment for her, and everyone decides that she is the bad guy? I must have missed something…

Well, I give them props for trying something unique with the ending.

I think the her being a bad guy is doing major damage to the building and endangering the folks in the room. She could literally flick he finger at the screen and break it but she lost control. She also wiped out an entire parking lot full of cars while fighting Daredevil and just shrugs it off as if it's nothing.

Good point.

I was shaking my head because it was so bad, but you are right. At least they TRIED something. It didn’t work, imho, but as was meta-ly said in the ep, doing anything else (almost “anything”) would have been paint by numbers, so going the route they did was an attempt at shaking things up. But it basically just crumpled up the storyline (I was going to say “season long storyline”, but they hardly paid any attention to the bigger picture story until the last couple eps) and ended it with a GitM solution.

Anyway, this bypasses Falcon and Winter Soldier, Inhumans and Iron Fist (I actually enjoyed IF on second viewing a few months ago) as the hands down worst MCU series to date.

i didnt mind the attempt, or even the execution... my only problem was that they didnt show us the conclusion of the actual story... they just ended things with everyone taking responsibility... sure that would really happen...

I actually almost liked Kevin... and how it made fun of all marvel shows and movies using the same formula... and i guess this was a good platform for that... as i dont think they really plan on ever using She-hulk again as anything besides a side character...

I would not be opposed to seeing her in Deadpool (I almost said “I wouldn’t mind seeing her in DP”, but decided against it…). But I think her wall breaking would just end up messing with Reynolds’ vibe.

They swung for the fences in the finale but ended up with a flyout at the warning track. I give them credit for the big swing though.

I am not sure it got to the track. I think it was more like a Harry Carey deep fly…

”He hits it high. It is deep. And Dunston makes the catch.”

I just realized that Carey’s and Kuiper’s HR calls are very similar.

I stopped watching a few episodes back but the wife says she liked the Daredevil stuff. I might go back and watch although I looked up what all the fuss was about with the last episode.

You can make art that questions why it even exists. Birdman or Dead Don't Die are all taking jabs at hollywood cliches. Dead Dont Die in particular is such a waste a time that it actually sticks with you a bit just due to how good the movie could be with all of the acting talent if it was a good movie. But I think thats the point of it.

The problem is that She Hulk is actually made by Disney. They have all of the power. They are the ones who can implement the change. Instead of making fun of their bad product they could actually use their massive platform to create a good one.

I thought Birdman was more of a public BJ for the theater than it was a criticism of Hollywood, but it was a movie that I appreciated for it’s art more than I enjoyed it for its entertainment value.

I guess its not so much about those movies but I do think that She-Hulk's angle of trying to be subversive is weird. We have a lack of female superhero TV shows and She-Hulk is in a position to fill the void. Its a weird choice to take the approach they did imo.

Court room dramas are what TV is all about. Heck, some of the classic TV shows are about women in the workforce. They got a great actress to play She Hulk. This should have been a slam dunk.

I generally like/respect Maslany as an actress. And I am willing to say she did an OK job with the material she was given here (nothing spectacular, but it is difficult to make a tasty sandwich when the only protein you have to work with is literal shit).

But I would have preferred they gave her an original rather than derivative character. Captain Marvel (as horrible of a character as it is, and as horribly handled as she was) is an original character. Storm is an original character. Black Widow is an original character. Wasp is somewhat derivative, but she has always been a ying to Antman’s yang, so I can “forgive” her somewhat lack of originality.

Instead of creating a Re-Re Williams or a Jennifer Walters or a Miles Morales, they need to make more Natasha Romanov’s, T’Challas or Orora Munroes.

This... The finale was... Unique but ended up making the entire show feel like... Not sure I want to even call it a waste, but sorta do. Honestly there were plenty of clues along the way that foreshadowed this going nowhere at all really. Shoddy plot threads that didn't have much depth at all, and mainly felt like aimless character building.

Passed the time, I guess?

I saw a pretty good take on the finale somewhere that said it was both good and trash at the same time. Sounds about right. There was simultaneously some cool stuff and some dafuq stuff going and then it just ends.

I just realized that this ending was basically Blazing Saddles. Or maybe more Holy Grail. Same general concept.

Honestly, fighting the fans? that's a bold strategy Cotton, lets see if it pays off.

I haven't watched and will not watch She-Hulk, from the commentary around the show including the writers and cast, it's pretty clear that I'm not their target and to me the only mildly interesting content is the cameos, and I won't go through a show just for that.

What I don't really understand is this idea of educating and fighting fans and calling them toxic. I've seen the same on commentary surrounding Rings of Power (which I will see now that all episodes are out), but this fight is completely unproductive for the production companies. Yes, there's a loud minority of assholes, but they can't keep pretending that the everyone who has legit complains about the shows deserve to be treated the same as those assholes.

Clearly they want the fight but its not really anything new so Im not sure how much that should be celebrated. Jay and Silent Bob were beating up online critics back when Will Ferrell was a new comedian. If anything, it also feels a little like playing second fiddle after The Batman's release.

Disney in general is starting to have a major villain problem imo. The reality is that making fun of incels and angry people online is punching down. They're f'ing Disney.

Bigger issue is they lump everyone who does not like the show in with incels and racist. They can't accept that that show comes with a LOT of valid criticism.
