I was ok either way with this move. I think Fangio deserved another year with a good QB but at the same time I support this move. I was 50/50. Glad it wasn't a decision I had to make although I would take the money made to make this decision and then flip a coin. ;)

I’m perfectly okay with this move. Can’t have that record against your own division and keep your job. Can’t have a 1-23 record when trailing at halftime and keep your job.

Was too stubborn to make adjustments and couldn’t keep pace in a division with up and coming teams. Move that had to be made.

This is the biggest reason for me to jump on the "FIRE FANGIO" wagon... Then I see the other side of it also. I have been off and on each side of the fence all year. Glad the decision has finally been made. No more thinking about IF Fangio will be the coach but now we can wonder WHO Will be the coach.

With the search just beginning and having no knowledge of what Paton is looking for, I’d have to say my top 3 preferences for next HC would probably be Jim Harbaugh, Greg Roman, or Kellen Moore.

The list is going to be long. I am always leary about an offensive minded coach mostly because I am more irritated with a poor defense then I am with a poor offense. Let's not blurt out too many names because it always ends up being one we don't mention but I would think Dan Quinn, Doug Pederson and Nathaniel Hackett would be two other popular names added to your list above. Seems like Eric Bienemy's name has really cooled off this offseason.

If Quinn or Pederson or hired, I don’t think I’ll be able to watch the Broncos until they’re gone. They’ve both failed catastrophically and recently. Couldn’t possibly hire anyone worse except maybe Josh McDaniels.

I think we can do far worse then Quinn and Pederson. I get maybe being upset because they aren't high on your personal list but to "not watch", them without giving them a chance?

Catastrophically? You realize Dan Quinn took the Falcons to a Super Bowl right and Doug Pederson won a Super Bowl??? I would say their resume is better then any other candidate mentioned above. I'm not saying they are my top two guys either. But let's not be overally dramatic here. Both have had success.

What happened once they’re OCs left?

Quinn’s OC went on to another SB while the Falcons got considerably worse. They’re still dealing with the fallout of Quinn’s horrid tenure.

Pederson handled his QB situation worse than Fangio did here and almost ruined Carson Wentz as bad as Fangio ruined Lock. Bear in mind Lock and Wentz had statistically identical seasons last year. This year, Wentz is back with Reich and having a very good season. Meanwhile the Eagles that we’re helpless under Pederson last year are already back in the postseason without him.

We can do much, MUCH better than either of those two clowns.

I'm not saying Pederson and Quinn were "great" coaches... I am saying they took their team to Super Bowls. I love how people are so quick to give all the coaches the credit or all the assistants the credit to back their claim as to if a coach is good or not. I am just saying you can't say they "failed catastrophically", when they both took their team to a Super Bowl. That is the goal... (To take your team to the Super Bowl)... It takes good coaches around you and good players around you... You can't give one person all the credit and then one person NO credit.

Look, they aren't my top two choices. I am simply saying they both had some success even if a small dose of it. That is a FACT.

In Paton we trust - we have no choice.

If you are going to fire the HC - now is definitely the time to do it.

There is a very long list of roster decisions that need to be made in short order.

Personally - I would hire a defensively minded HC and bring in a hot shot OC. OC for the Broncos ought to be very sought after - since improving over last year would be a given - no matter how bad you are at what you do.

I am ok with this. I hate to have our defense go to crap again. Nothing more irritating then a terrible Defense. I know some may think a horrible offense is more irritating but not me. I prefer a good defense being the #1 priority and build the offense up from there.

I think the biggest thing Denver has going for them is George Paton. IF Elway was still our GM I wouldn't be excited either way. George Paton is the key to our success. He has proved to be great in his one year here so I trust him! He has my full trust right now. Something Elway never had except when he was a QB here. ;)

This is true .. but it is part of the fun, right ??

At the very least, the offseason will be eventful and entertaining - and it is off to a fast start - a mere 24 hrs ago, Fangio and Shurmur were still an hour away from gametime !

It is like picking in the draft early... The goal is not to do it but it does make it fun.

Does getting a good offensive mind as HC guarantee a bad D? I’m on the opposite side of the fence here. The rules are geared to offenses in the NFL, let’s stop trying to go against the grain. We’ve done that the last two hires and the results have been disappointing.

I think the important thing is to get the right coach, the side of the ball doesn’t matter. We need an innovative OC regardless of what side of the ball the HC comes from. If we go with an offensive minded HC we can look at up and coming OC.

OK, hire Hackett.
