Watched this quick hitter between lunch break and other slow periods.

Dracula, Wolfman, Frankenstein's monster, and a doctor all put together in a storyline that takes about an hour to complete.
Looks like I know what I'm watchin tonight during dinner!

One of my favorites of the oldies; great stuff. :thumb:

I protest the system!

It should count only horror-specific posts, like reviews and valid commentary.

Dammit!

That's what started this whole discussion. DJ's claims of 1000+ posts, and my teasing him about roughly 100 of those being of substance.

All that work and no "substance" tally.... :gaah:

Was that a sequel to House of Frankenstein? Sure seemed like it. Could also be tied into the stand-alones Wolf-Man & Frankenstein?

Sort of a slow builder, but picks up nicely! Very fun & nostalgic to watch. Also gotta say that I think Bela Lugosi's Dracula was a little better in my mind. This guy, Carradine, did an admirable job though. Somethin about Lugosi was more iconic to me.

House of Frankenstein was even better, imo; 'course, starring Boris Karloff doesn't hurt. House of Dracula was more of a 'companion' than a sequel, but yeah, they are all tied in to the Universal monsters that ruled back then.

House of Frankenstein was really a direct sequel to Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man, showing what happened to Frankie and Wolfie after they appeared to both die at the end of that flick.

And if you've never watched Abbott and Costello meet Frankenstein, trust me; you should. You will laugh your ass off, especially with a few libations as company.

Those old Universal movies are truly horror classics.

My knowledge of pre 60-70’s horror is severely lacking! I’ve only seen a handful. I really need to fix that!

Just watched See No Evil 2. It was recommended online as a big improvement over the original See No Evil, which was a fairly crappy entry into the slasher genre. In some ways they were right.

This one starts off immediately after the first. Jacob Goodnight, played by the giant wrestler known as Kane (this was a WWE production) is seemingly dead after the first movie. They are hauling him to the morgue where a bunch of pretty folk are holding a surprise birthday party for their friend who works there. After a couple sneaks off to do the nasty next to his body, he wakes up and starts gutting the MTV crowd in various ways.

Pretty straightforward Halloween 2 tribute/rip off in that it:
*Starts immediately after the events of the first movie.
*Chases the people around a hospital/morgue for the entire movie.
*Unstoppable killer rises from supposably being dead and goes all hack-slay on everyone in his path.

The first movie had the stupid premise of a bunch of beautiful convicts go to an old hotel to clean it up as community service. They all have designer clothes and perfect make up. More annoying is that they are basically anonymous in that they are all faceless, disposable, dislikable stereotypes. Part 2 does improve on this as the characters are distinguishable from each other and are better developed, but for the most part they are still dislikable.

It moves fast. The gore is pretty decent. For some reason this mortuary basement is gigantic, which makes little sense but it gives everyone a place to run around in the dark and try to hide.

Is it better than the first? Yes, but doesn't make it a great movie. It does have Katharine Isabelle from the Ginger Snaps series/American Mary/Freddy vs Jason/Carrie in a supporting role as the nympho friend which is a plus in my book (unfortunately she still doesn't whip out her twin talents for out viewing pleasure).

Good production values, some good gore, Kane is a scary monster being a muscular 7'0 dude. Cinematography, soundtrack is ok. Acting is generally passable.

Suffers from generic story. Nothing we haven't seen 100 times before. Also produced for mass consumption so it has little personality.

All in all, I'll go 5.5 out of 10. I wouldn't seek it out but I wouldn't actively avoid it if nothing else is appealing.

Didn't Kane play Michael Myers or Jason Voorhees in a few of those movies?

No. You are thinking of the legendary Kane Hodder. He played Jason 5 times, Leatherface, Victor Crowley in the under-rated Hatchet series, and has been in about 1000 other horror movies!

Hodder is only 6'1" though while Glen Jacobs (wrestler Kane) is about 7' and 330#. But I'd take Hodder in my movie over Jacobs as he is a true icon in the genre.
