Also A question, If you could lock up Provorov for 10 years would it be worth uit and what would you think is a fair offer? I would def like to see some of these kids get long term deals, no more restricted trade deals though, I personally don't like them.
I had brought this up previously and said we should offer him a 10 year 70 million dollar contract and AWAZ pointed out that he has no leverage because of his years in the league. My argument was if he doesnt get his money he may not play as hard and injuries may last longer etc. and he pointed out that if he did that he would only be hurting himself.

So far everything about this kid has been awesome, the few mistakes he has made I've only seen him commit once which means he's paying attention. His game is all around solid IMO.
He is the only one of our young guns that i would offer the long term deal to and if Hart is what he is being touted as lives up to it maybe him also.

Well the max they can offer is 8 years per the CBA. I think it will be hard to get him for less than 7.5M per year, which is what Ekblad signed for a couple years ago in the same situation (#1 dman at like 21 years old, restricted free agent signing a long term deal). Since the cap has gone up since then, I expect Provorov will need a little more. Ekblad was 10.2% of the cap when he signed, so if you project the cap to be 82ish next summer, Provorv would be 8x8-ish. And i'm all for that.

I agree with this also. I love Konecny, but I don't think you go long term with him like you do Provorov. I think those types of moves are more reserved for C and D that are going to be your core. I think you would consider it when Patrick is up, but I kind of expect the Flyers to be in the throws of making cup runs when he's up (2020). So rather than go big money big term with him, I expect they'll go bridge with him to get a couple more years out of him at a lower number so they can ice the highest quality team possible.

I'm super high on Hart, obviously, but long term contracts and goalies don't go very well together. These days they're so hit and miss from year to year. But we'll see, there are a handful of goalies that have lived up to big contracts, hopefully Hart is one of them.

Lastly, I agree on the NTC/NMC front. And Hextall seems to also. He hasn't given out any if i'm not mistaken. Giroux (full NMC) and Simmonds (12 team no trade list) are the only two left on the roster. Gives him a lot of flexibility when you compare it to teams like the Pens (7) and Hawks (9).

I would love an 8x8 contarct for him. I truly believe hes our captain on defense already and in a couple of years will be captain of the team

Agree 100%. He's probably worth 8M today already. In 2-3 years when he's a fixture in Norris voting he'll be a downright steal.

I still remember that St. Louis game early in the year. I think that was one of the best performances I've ever seen from a defenseman. 2nd night of a back to back, 3rd game in 4 nights after playing 29:51 against the Hawks the night before, and 28:07 against the Yotes 3 nights before. He plays 27 minutes, throws 5 hits, and blocks a ridiculous 10 shots to carry the team to a 2-0 shutout. That's when I knew he was the real deal and would be a Norris-level guy for the Flyers.

Provorov and Couturier are the only two players I saw last year give a complete effort every game, shift and zone. Although, I'll give Simmonds a pass due to injuries as prior to last year I would have included him in that group as well.

I think if you could do 7-10 years at a good rate for him and us, I'm all for it. Whatever happens with him I'm willing to roll the dice on.

I figure Provorov would get a 3 year bridge deal to keep him a RFA and then an 8 year deal for big money after that. Then we save money on the second contract too and get him for 14 seasons total at the very least.

With a player like this, the idea is to keep him as long as humanly possible.

The best part of it all is hes only 21.
He's a solid player all the way around. His learning curve has been so far ahead of the pack, we just need the rest of these kids coming up to get into the NHL groove and it'll also show who is ready and who isn't. I like our odds right now on winning the division goal tending withstanding..

I'm hoping fir a surprise there, I think we find a good cohesive unit this year, if not I would hope Hexy makes the necessary coaching change.
I hope you are right but im very pessimistic about our PK going into this season. Hopefully we dont see Lehtera out there killing penalties this year.
