Probably USC. Trojans would have barely made the cut this past season under this scenario as they were ranked 8th heading into the Cotton Bowl

2000 Purdue, 2001 LSU, 2002 Florida State, 2003 Florida State, 2004 Virginia Tech, 2004 Michigan, 2005 Florida State, 2006 Wake Forest.

And in some instances some of those teams weren't in the top 10. I get that was in a different era, but those teams don't need to be playing in a CFP consisting of 8 teams.
