Mmmmmm, I heart walleye! If I give you my address, will you send some down? I have not had walleye since I left Michigan
I would if I had any left over -- we ate them all lol. I don't go very often myself. Down here in SE Michigan Lake Erie is really the best place to go and I don't get out there much.

What's the minimum for those bass? Up here it's like 14'' or 16''.

Certain lakes have size limits that differ from lake to lake...anywhere from 12" to 16".

One lake they even limited the larger fish. Couldn't keep anything within a slot. It goes by the "fishing pressure" of the lake.

Now in all other Louisiana waters, bayous, rivers, brackish coastal inlets...no size limit.

Ugh! My grandpa's famous beer batter walleye fish fry was legendary within our family. I would bet if I dug hard enough I can find a pic of me in the 5-7 range gnawing on some perch or walleye..or both!

We caught a 22'' one last week that was just spectacular. The fillets were huge. We'd supplement our walleye catch with rock bass.

We used to do sucker dipping in the Rifle river. We would pull out 20 - 200 sucker in a net and guarantee to be at least 1 or 2 walleye. Now they were out of season so to anything but throw them back was illegal. But I am sure I recollect my dad pulling a 30 or more inch walleye out and 2 hours later we are having a "sucker" fish fry lunch!

Ya'll have a slot limit on crappie? We do have a minimum of 8" on some bodies of water, but no slots and a creel limit of 20 p/man.

Most of my crappie come from a small private lake (45-50 acres), so there is neither a size limit nor creel limit.

Nevermind! I just saw the bass in the pic. At first glance I thought they were all crappie. :L

I've been fishing the same lake in the Poconos for 30 years. Recently under the advice of the guy in another cabin we started using a plastic worm with a wacky rig. I can't believe how effect these are for bass and wish I had tried this a long time ago.

My father in law & I went charter fishing this morning off the Oregon Coast. Both of us limited out on Rockfish (5 per). Caught my first Canary. I also got my 2 limit on Ling Cod and he caught just 1.

Beautiful sunny & calm day on the water.

Plastics are the way to go. Wacky, Texas, Carolina... Senkos if you don’t mind paying for them, Yum Dingers if you do.

Don't have a favorite bait, the fish don't. But yeah I always tend to start with plastics for bass, then I move to spinners or jigs or whatever until I find what they like that particular day.

Why are Senkos more expensive and what makes them worth more? Seems a plastic is a plastic although with Texas rigged I've always used Power Worms for the scent.

Plastics are definitely not all created equal. The composition of the plastic and subtleties in the shape affect both how it reacts in the water and how you work it. Senkos are heavy for plastics, but sink slow. There is a lot of salt impregnated in there as well which helps keep the fish from biting and spitting (they'll hold it a couple seconds longer before figuring out it isn't food which gives you time to set the hook). There is also a distinct "wobble" to a falling Senko that seems to trigger bass. Senkos also seem to cast a country mile compared to other plastics.

The high salt count has a drawback though in making them fragile. If you catch a fish with a Senko the Senko is probably toast and you'll need a new one. Wacky rigged you will want to check into those rubber bands they sell where you don't actually hook the worm but rather the band. It will save you money.

Yum Dingers are close performance wise and are half the price. I think a bag of Senkos is about $8. A bag of Yum Dingers is like $4. Most other brands I've been less impressed with. I usually go with Senkos as every little bit counts.

I used to fish worms a lot. I'm really more of a spinnerbait guy right now. That's my go-to and when that doesn't work I go to the plastics. Worms (texas, wacky), Creatures, Flukes. Spinnerbaits I like the Strike King Tournament with the trailer hooks. I can cover a lot of water with those and the strikes are just better. They really HIT that shit.

I caught a 5.4lb LMB at Lake Arthur last Friday around 7:45PM at the 528 Upper Boat Ramp that almost ripped my rod out of my hand. I was using a Strike King Tourney Spinner (white/yellow) with trailer.

Good stuff, thanks. I had looked at those things that crimp an O ring to the bait, then you hook through the ring to save the bait. Looked like too much work but you have convinced me to try. I like spinners too for obvious reason. But there isn't the feeling of accomplishment of feeling the tap tap of a plastic and setting the hook at the right time. With a spinner often they hook themselves.

That's true enough. I think I've gravitated toward reaction baits like spinners this year because I really lack patience. Doing things slow and methodically sometimes irritates me. I'm sure before this season is out I'll circle back around to it though. I bought ten bags of Senko's about 2 months ago expecting to use them (and haven't touched them) so they're ready and waiting.

Damn... that looks awesome beardown.

The boy and I fished Yellow Creek lake last night (one of the best bass fisheries in PA) and got skunked. Just turned into a bad day fast. First 8 casts I lost 3 lures. Granted, they were just Senko's and I was purposely casting into fallen trees but usually I can work through that brush. Not last night. Pissed me off. Which made me impatient the rest of the evening. Headed over to Gandpa's Cove on the other side of the lake and lost a frog in the pads. Went home and drank beer.

I hate getting skunked. It doesn't happen a lot anymore and I'm not used to it now. I don't always catch a nice one, or a lot, but I almost always catch something. What a shit night. I'm still pissed.

The Shimano Citica and Dobbyns Fury are a sweet set-up though. HIGHLY recommended if you want a good combo for just under $300 OTD.
