I think he's only played 19 games or something this season. Hasn't had that problem til this season, but he's been hurt all season.
This what gets me about players, if your hurt and can't play to your full potential then why play? Heal get better then get at it.

Yep. The Simmonds one this season irritates me. He basically started the season with the injury that plagued him the whole year. Surely shutting it down for 4 months and coming back healthy in January/February would've been more useful?

100% more useful! The problem is he produced very little and never healed. He would of been awesome if healthy during that stretch run.

Also by playing with severe injuries he decreased his trade value so even if we wanted to trade him at the deadline his value was low.

Well either Vegas is for real or they are just not aware of how bad they were supposed to be this year, MAF has been crazy good this season and into the playoffs. Lol if he raises the cup this year he passes Cindy and Queeno for more cups.

But then do we even make the playoffs? It's a tough call to make, ultimately. I think we will have more depth and therefore more room for error next season.

When the time comes, we may want to look at overhauling the power play units. 16th overall just isn't good enough with all of the talent we have on the ice. We also allowed 10 shorthanded goals, which was tied for 3rd most in the Nhl. Maybe get Provorov up there with Ghost on the top unit. A lot less likely to give up a shorty with two defensemen. That and Provy is quite possibly our best player already, so it's time to start using him that way.

I really hope Vegas wins the cup its just a feel good story. MAF winning the cup would be fun for him to have more than Cindy and Queeno. On the bad side of this story is Belmare would have one more cup than than the Flyers in more than 4 decades.

I just read he may not be ready for next season for a while either.

I can agree it may be time to look at overhauling the power play units, but I'm very against using 2 dmen, especially on the 1st unit. I'm not sure if it was before he went to The Athletic, but Charlie O'Connor wrote a break down about using 1 dman vs 2 dmen on the PP and the results were pretty convincing that you should use 4 forwards. Given the Flyers offensive talent, putting 4 forwards out there with high end offensively skill isn't a problem.

HOWEVER, the second unit is and has been terrible. And I'm not sure they have enough high end offensively talent to fill out two PP units with 4 forwards. I would be on board with adding Sanheim to the 2nd unit and going with Provorov/Sanheim back there. I think they're two of the top 10 offensive talents on the team for sure.

PP1:
Simmonds
Giroux
Voracek
Couturier
Ghost

PP2:

Patrick
Konecny
Sanheim
Lindblom
Provorov

Is what I would be interested in seeing. I would consider rotating the 2nd PP unit to put Lindblom in front, Patrick in the Giroux spot, and Konecny in the 'bumper' spot. I think Patrick has more play making ability in him than the rest of them, so you kind of waste him in front of the net, even though he's proven to be good there. He could make the engine go on the 2nd unit instead. Could look at Weal instead of Lindblom instead, have him be in G's spot and Konecny in the bumper.

Edit: Bah, my spacing didn't translate. 1PP stays essentially the same as it was most of the year. 2nd PP, Patrick takes Simmonds' spot, Konecny takes G's spot, Lindblom takes Couturier's, Provorov takes Ghost's, and Sanheim takes Voracek's
