How did you come to be a fan of the team you root for?

Simple thread, how did you start rooting for your team? I know we have some guys who root for teams that are far from where they live, others who have rooted for different teams in the past.

Me, I was born and raised 45 minutes outside of Philly in Delaware. Rooting for the Phillies was something that came automatically. Plus, I'm not a cocksucker.

You guys?

Born in 91, lived in Georgia my entire life, my family were some of the first white settlers of north GA. Kind of impossible to not be a Braves fan in my situation.

Went to a game in the summer of 1956 at Crosley Field. Redlegs vs. the Dodgers (Brooklyn). We had seats behind home plate (some business owner had season tix) ... the game was close. On the mound for the Redlegs -- Brooks Lawrence, who was 12-0 at the time. On the hill for the Dodgers -- a young lefty named Sandy-something.

A rookie named Robinson hit a home run.

BTW, 20,000 fans at Crosley was an event. There was probably parking for 500 cars near the ballpark.

Redlegs win 4-3 on a walkoff single by Big Klu.

I have the box score from that game.

Marlins. From there.

I remember being 9 years old in 1993 on spring break, spending those days at the local rec center, when my mom surprised me by taking the day off work early, picking me up, and driving us home so I could watch the Inaugural Game. A 3-2 win vs LAD.

I’ve got two teams I like, the Reds and Blue Jays. Cincinnati because of Eric Davis(my all time favorite player). Toronto because of the outfielders of Barfield, Bell and Moseby. Growing up in Idaho, no local teams to cheer for.

Blue Jays cause I grew up there.

In the NL Houston was my team mostly because Biggio was my favourite. When they moved to the AL the Brewers replaced them as my NL team. They are my Sim league team and my mostly silent co-owner loves them, he grew up there and his old man covered sports at the Milwaukee J-S his entire life so he's pretty attached.

I haven't ever had a real NL team, but the closest thing I have had to an NL team has been probably to the Mets. The Pirates as well I prefer to win when they can.

Eric Davis - theres a name I have not heard in awhile.......Man was that guy talented.....If not for battling injuries his entire career he would have been a sure HOFer........Unbelievable speed and power
