I thought this would provide an interesting discussion. Here's the latest odds for players who are in the running to be OROTY. Pretty stout list to choose from if you ask me.

Saquon Barkley 3-2
Baker Mayfield 11-4
Josh Allen 8-1
Josh Rosen 10-1
Sam Darnold 12-1
Rashard Penny 14-1
Derrius Guice 18-1
Lamar Jackson 20-1
Ronald Jones 30-1
Sony Michel 30-1
DJ Moore 33-1
Calvin Ridley 40-1

Me personally I'm going with the no brainer pick. Saquon Barkley will indeed light it up this season for the Giants.

I guess Barkley since RB's get overvalued in ROTY conversations and the QB's are all ??????'s for playing time.

I think Barkley is the rightful fave, but I'm not 100% sold on him. He looks the part and certainly wowed at the combine, but he had some pretty dud games even against weaker competition. Only 4 100 yard games, and a couple of those were on the strength of 1 long run. I expect him to be "good" right away, but probably closer to Tyrone Wheatley than Bo Jackson. But like I said, it does make total sense that he is the odds-on guy.

As long as the Giants get the offensive line figured out, Barkley will have a good career with the team.

People read top much into that. Penn St blew a lmost everyone out last year so Barkley had very limited touches in most games. The games VS big time competition he delivered .

Well, much like our Hawks, they definitely have some figuring out to do. Eli had zero help around him last season after the injuries to the skill position players, so we'll see if returned health to those WRs can keep defenses honest.

It all starts with the protection. If the QB doesn't have time to throw the ball you'll see errant throws into the defensive coverages leading to more interceptions. The same can be said for the RB's. If they don't have lanes to run through they won't be effective either.

Yeah, makes some sense...and I admittedly didn't see him much outside of highlights and the bowl game vs UW. But I look at his numbers, and they honestly don't blow me away like the highlight reel does. 3 games he had 20+ carries, and in 2 of those (Indiana, Ohio St) he averaged < 3 a pop. In the games he did put up a big number, such as the UW game, it seemed more often than not it was on the strength of 1 long run. It's great to have that homerun ability, but you cant count on that every Sunday in the NFL. Aside from the 92 yarder against UW, he had 45 yards on 17 rushes. 2.5 ypc vs Rutgers? I dunno...I hadn't really looked into his stats until I got hit with all the hype between the combine and the draft, and I think on the face they leave a bit to be desired. Again, I think he'll be "good" and should be the fave for OROY, but I have doubts we are looking at the next Adrian Peterson here.

True but he also had 3 kick return for 203 yards and 2 tds in those 2 games and 7 catches for 80 yards so even in the hands were he was less than normal he still had 385 yards on 53 touches. He's just dynamic in a multitude of ways . Not really limited to carrying it like other backs

Yep, good points. His ability to catch is definitely something that helped make him the #2 overall pick. I look forward to seeing what he'll do at the next level.

Where did you get these odds? If I could get 30-1 in Vegas for Michel I'd throw $50 on him.

Just to be clear I wasn't super happy with this pick on draft day. I felt NE had bigger holes to fill. But after the draft the pundits have helped me warm up to this pick. Regardless of how well he does the chances of him getting OROY is slim on that NE offense. He just won't get enough touches. But stranger things have happened and I'd take those odds for a nice pay day.

Having said that Barkley likely gets OROY. That kid can do it all.

These odds didn't come from Vegas. They came from one of the beat writers at the NY Daily News.

Thanks, that's why I asked the question.
