Were Rick's decisions that led to Maggie's family deaths really that dumb?
That's what I don't understand.

Rick was trying to get Maggie to Hilltop when they were captured the first time and Glen met his maker. Yeah, that was Rick's fault, but he was doing it for her sake.

Hershel died as a result of him not being self aware and let himself get caught. Rick stood his ground and tried to make peace with the Governor. It didn't work out.

Rick had nothing to Beth's death.

That was a really silly way to end it all... become one big happy family but you could see it from the start of the season. Don't really like the new direction they seem to be going with a group split on the horizon.

But the worst scene overall goes to the Morgan/Trash lady scene. How you gonna send a guy thats not coming back to the group, to recruit for the group.

Morgan: Rick is trying to do something big, wants you to come be a part of our group.

Trash Lady: OK, I get my things and we'll go.

Morgan: I'm staying here

Trash Lady: OK, wait a minute, it sounds like you are stealing my place.

No named deaths? In a season finale? Interesting.

So Rick can slice someone’s throat and simply say “save him” and he lives? And is talking shortly after? Either Rick is a true magic man or Siddiq is the greatest doctor ever.

Why is Jesus part of the “three”? He is all about peace and forgiveness. No way would he conspire with Maggie in that fashion. Unless what they are planning is not at all what they made it seem.

I didn't get that either especially after his stand on the Savior prisoners.

Is Dwight gone? Darryl taking over the arc just doesn’t make sense. They are too different. And how would they write Daryl into Santuary? Is Tara going to be the new Dwight??? That would suck, but I can see some seeds of that.

Maybe. Apparently his wife is still alive.

Other than Eugene turning out to be a good guy with the double switcheroo (Stay still so I can hate you, Eugene!) there were few surprises.

The whole battle of the century lasted less than 15 minutes.

It was stupid. Where did all extra windows come from? Does hilltop have window manufacturer? Are windows now universally sized (I know there are standards)

I figured they went to a Lowe’s or something (seriously). Probably lots of windows that have not been looted yet. It was more of a peace offering gesture than anything else.

The windows were destroyed during the war, so let’s put that behind us.

Heh...haven't made up my mind on the ep yet, but I found it pretty amusing that they've been blowing off so much ammo and Rick runs out of bullets just when it's time to shoot Negan. ;)

Major plot line is Eugene making ammo, yet Rick's group has an unlimited supply

One of many things driving me nuts

We rewound it like 4 times and them froze the image and STILL had no idea what they were talking about. The second showing was clear, though.

I must have missed something. The second showing of what?

Pre-battle, rick and all our “heroes” are walking towards the ambus point, and the look out over the DC / Baltimore forrest and apparently see a massive herd. Problem was that it was not visible to the viewing audience.

Later, after Rick “saves” Negan, he makes a big speech to everyone, calling the herd “them” and that “we” are alive while they arent. At that point, the herd is clearly visible.

After watching this, the main thing I'm wondering is (unless I missed something) if Lauren Cohen does get that rumored pilot how are they going to write her out if it does get made.
Not speak to Rick and Michonne

Where to start?

I liked what Rick did in this episode. Overall, he followed the comic, which the show needs to do more often.

Morgan has totally lost it. Did anybody watch the crossover? Maybe I just don’t like Lennie.

Oceanside came through just when needed. Not a huge story but they did need some story build there.

The Eugene part was genius. I absolutely loved it because of his future arc.

I can’t stand how weak they have made Negan in the show. I swear we need more fuckity fuck fuck fuck.

I think Dwight is fine unless he does get caught up in that herd and finds out about the whisperers.

The herd has to be a setup for the whisperers. There is zero chance it isn’t.

Now, for the trifecta, I think it leaves openings for them to write Maggie off if needed or keep with the push. Jesus or Daryl can turn her over to Rick, and they could exile her if they don’t fix the contract. They could have her and Rick but heads for a while. There are options.

Does the Savior at Hilltop have a name?

I liked the final fight between Rick and Negan in the books better. It better showed Negan’s humanity and Rick’s savageness.
My wife is a SLP(Speech Language Pathologist) and right when Rick cut Negan's throat, I actually said to my wife "He only sliced his trachea? That wouldn't kill him...right?" She said it could but obviously if you want someone to die, you cut the arteries. Just severing the trachea also wouldn't keep him from talking since the vocal folds(voice box) were likely not damaged but talking would still hurt.

It doesn't make sense that Negan passed-out after Rick did that and it didn't make sense why Rick's hand was dripping with blood afterwards so they wanted it to confuse us for sure.

That's my take on things FWIW?
