Amen to that. Also - Allen was a great pick last season. God forbid if someone here says it was not since he was injured. You can't always account for injuries in drafting players & this guy very likely still has a great future. No way in hell anyone else should have been selected at that spot, but I am guessing someone here doesn't like that pick.

Some folks here just want to complain about absolutely everything.

That was the super rare case where I think we all agreed we had done the right thing lol

BTW Kevin - as you, I & several other folks here already know - love how some folks here act like being a Skins fan is the toughest thing in the world. Trying being a fucking Caps fan for forever & going through this nonsense year in - year out. It is just like being Charley Brown & having the football pulled away from you every season. Way more frustrating than being a Skins fan (I keep telling myself I won't go through this again but inevitably do every year).

I got into hockey like 2 years ago (as a caps fan). Been blown away by how much I've loved watching the sport but in just the 3 postseasons I'm already sickof it lol.

I feel ya. It's unbelievable waiting for the other shoe to drop with this franchise knowing it's gonna happen.
On the disappointment scale it's tilted way more in favor in the Caps direction

Every April is Groundhog Day with the Caps. I'm actually numb to it now and that's depressing

If Jesus Christ himself was selected at 13 there would still be 77 pages of threads about what a shitty pick it was.The draft can't get here soon enough.

I posted a "funny" emoji on this one, wish there was a way to also post the "winner" emoji as well.:suds:

I cant see how any Redskins fan was anything but thrilled when they got Allen

Yep - I feel about the same. What other pro team can finish w/ either the best record in their league or very close for multiple years & each time their fans & everyone else expects them to lose in the early round of the playoffs. Oh well.

Why am I undervaluing RBS? How am I late on this?

Since it's clearly so obvious and easily explained, please enlighten me.

your late bc this was a popular mindset a few years ago with fans and pundits, a few seasons where not a single RB was taken round 1. Its began to even out with NFL people revaluing rbs again.

not really some earth shattering outside the box thinking hot take. more of a recycled one.

That was because there were worse rb prospects compared to the last couple years more than anything.

This is still an idea that a lot of fans haven't come around on especially if they're more old school but idk what it being a hot take or not has to do with anything. Idgaf about it being a hot take...its just true. I'm gonna argue for what's true not for what's a hot take. As far as RBs go...the truth is they aren't as valuable as other positions and the running game is heavily overshadowed by the passing game.

nope you are wrong, with the exception of Barkley being a generational type prospect at his position.

good teams run the ball well even during a pass happy era.

The eagles ran all over teams and still traded a draft pick for Ajayi... and then won the superbowl.

i guess the rams, cowboys, jaguars turn arounds were all just a coincidence that had nothing to do with their star RBs.

8 of the top 10 rushing teams in 2017 made the playoffs

2 of the bottom 12 rushing teams in 2017 made the playoffs

Uhhhhh no. I'm not. Gurley and Zeke ring a bell? And last year might've been the best rb class in a long time.

Ehh. Good teams are more likely to throw the ball well cuz its ya know...more important.

The eagles had an mvp candidate at QB and one the SB thanks to an all time great passing performance. But sure sell me on how they were built on the run.

Oh boy. Jags - absolutely dominant defense. Ended up losing because their qb is trash. Dallas went from a trash qb to a very good rookie qb. LA - suddenly Goff looks good and they're a playoff team.

As for winning teams running the ball...I'll let you think about that one and see if you can figure it out. I think if you put a little effort in you can.

And I'm assuming you didn't listen to the podcast but the reality is - multiple studies have shown the same thing. Passing is just more efficient. It's better. Pretty much all the time. If you want to ignore the data though go for it.

I'm sorry what?

There are multiple threads about us drafting a rb so therefore I care about things being hot takes?

What an illogical connection to make.

There are only 7 RBs who have been named Super Bowl MVP. Having said that Denver won when two things happened, they got a running game and a defense.

A successful run game allows you to manage the clock, especially late in a game when you have the lead. It improves play action passes. That can't be under estimated as any QB is better when LBers hesitate before dropping into pass coverage.

We should all know that one reason Grifin's first year was so successful was that defenses were worried about both him and Alf. All of those things combined made the offense work better as a whole.

Run game yes...RB no.

nah man I dont seek out confirmation bias and then pat myself on the back for having a take that is 5 years old.

to be honest everything in this post is trash...

you are correct, the data speaks for itself. Good teams run the ball well.

Terrel Davis, Jamal Lewis, Shaun Alexander, Mashall Faulk, E. Smith, Eddie George, FWP/Bettis, Jamal Anderson, Corey Dillon, Heck Thomas Jones

all off the top of my head

What confirmation bias have I sought out?

And more importantly what does the age of a take have to do with anything? Are you a flat earther too just cuz this whole earth being a sphere thing has just been around for too long?

Maybe. Id love to see you prove me wrong. But for such a trash post you are doing an embarrassingly bad job of refuting anything Im saying.

Right. The data says passing is more valuable. In pretty much every situation.

Sometimes good teams run the ball well. Sometimes they dont.

Now youre just naming runningbacks...whats your point? Do you want me to name you QBs and WRs just for the hell of it?

Can you make a coherent argument refuting what I have said or are you just gonna keep trolling?

I was a hockey fan before there were Caps. Just like the 80s we had great teams that couldn't beat the Islanders. This year it looks like we cannot beat Linus and I don't even think Lucy is snatching the ball away anymore.

Sadly Ovechkin is going to have an entire career here without a good coach. Trotz was a terrible move. He has never been past the 2nd round in about a 20 year career.

So you are right, the Redskins although it was a long time ago have won three Super Bowls after the Caps entered the league. Hopefully no one thought it was over when the Caps were up by two in game one or two.

And more importantly what does the age of a take have to do with anything? Are you a flat earther too just cuz this whole earth being a sphere thing has just been around for too long? Ad Hominem Fallacy

Maybe. Id love to see you prove me wrong. But for such a trash post you are doing an embarrassingly bad job of refuting anything Im saying. Appeal to the Stone Fallacy

Right. The data says passing is more valuable. In pretty much every situation. Association Fallacy

Sometimes good teams run the ball well. Sometimes they dont. Association Fallacy

Now youre just naming runningbacks...whats your point? Do you want me to name you QBs and WRs just for the hell of it? Red Herring Fallacy

Can you make a coherent argument refuting what I have said or are you just gonna keep trolling? Ad Hominem Fallacy

Pretty damn impressive I must say. 5 different fallacies not bad.
