The 8-5 Mariners take on the 10-6 Astros in this four game set.

Probable pitchers:

Monday, April 16:

James Paxton (5.74 ERA) vs. Dallas Keuchel (4.20 ERA)

Tuesday, April 17:
Ariel Miranda (First start) vs. Lance McCullers Jr. (7.71 ERA)

Wednesday, April 18:
Mike Leake (3.50 ERA) vs. Gerrit Cole (1.29 ERA)

Thursday, April 19:
Marco Gonzales (8.25 ERA) vs. Charlie Morton (1.00 ERA)

First three games are at 7:10 PST, the Thursday game will be at 12:40 PST.

Someone will have to post a series thread for me for the next series, I will be in Dallas over the weekend. Friday night I will be at Arlington Globe Life Park rooting on the Mariners against the Rangers.

As always, go Mariners!

Would have been so much nicer riding a 4-5 game win streak with the Astros rolling into town this evening

We played them really poorly last year. Need to change that this home stand and knock their starting pitching around some to get some street cred

Their line up is struggling offensively thus far. They have relied solely on the starting pitching to get the wins thus far

They are primed to be beat up on if we keep our cool and play some solid Ms ball these next 4 games.

Paxton needs to establish himself tonite if he ever wants the word ace associated with his name. Keuchel is off to a shaky start this season ... we can lite him up for some runs I think

That reference is what you call an identity, dare I say we are finally a professional baseball team?

Weird seeing those big ERA numbers for Keuchel & McCullers. Hopefully they stay big for a while longer!

Well technically we have always been a pro ball team ... but many fans in the past would have begged to differ given a chance to voice their frustrations.

Yes this years starting 9 is a top tier professional MLB team that I am sure is raising some eye brows with some pitching coaches and mgrs as they look at the schedule and try to devise a way to deal with a line up as potent as ours is. We have power speed and high average. Pretty much the tri-fecta of success offensively.

Now in fairness ... the other side of the coin is our starting pitching. And I seriously doubt its going to put the fear into any opposing batters.

If the mighty M's can nab 3/4 from the world champs this home stand ... myself and others will take notice that this years club just may be something a little different than we have been used to seeing the past decade plus

Amazing things can magically happen within a clubhouse when a group of guys genuinely start believing in themselves as winners

the chance...paxton and leake win..gonzales gets knocked around..and ramirez comes up for the win

Thursday's pitching matchup doesn't look too appealing... I'd take a 2-2 split in this series but I obvious hope for more...

WOW!! The weather has absolutely been crazy this spring all over the country. Ice build up on a bus in mid April and cold snowy weather in the northeast, and of course, near record setting rain in the Seattle/Tacoma area. Glad to see everyone on the bus was OK - Must have been pretty scary though.

Keuchel is having a rough start so far with a 0-2 record. His ERA isn't quite as bad as the Pax man. I'm afraid the M's might be "psyched out" going up against the Stros though. Hopefully the Stros will struggle @ Safeco for at least one or two of the games. If Pax starts the game off strong and our offense kicks it in the 1st inning, I'm thinking we could do well tonight. I'm more concerned about tomorrow's game even though McCullers is majorly struggling so far. Worried about Miranda making his first start. Hope we get off to a good start tonight. Go Mariners!!:thumb::yes:

If I was Ben Gamel, I would really be pissed that the Mariners are playing games about when he returns to Seattle. It sucks that he has to stay in T-town while Dipoto and Servais "figure" the roster shit out. I think it's all a game they are playing with the roster moves and not being upfront about the reasons.:suspicious:

I am so lost on what they are doing with Gamel. Is he their LF or not? It makes zero sense what they are doing with him and wasting him. How they didn't have an exit strategy for the Ichiro/Heredia situation seems like an amateur GM move. Then the leaning towards Miranda? What other way can he possibly lean, there isn't anyone else that can pitch tomorrow unless they move Leake up or start a bullpen arm.

agree 100%

Ben Gamel is twice the ball player Ichiro is at 44yo who is nothing more than a side show act off to the side of the 3 ring big top

Get Gamels ass up to the show and say sayanara to ichi-sractchy and move on to focusing on winning games

All the posturing and bullshit roster moves is fucking stupid

Play your best players that give you the best chance to win games. That is the fundamental job of a GM or mgr
