From the Sixers perspective, I would offer Fultz, Saric, the Lakers pick and our own 1st rounder this year, and I still think we'd get laughed at.

Just looking at a projected mock draft, the Spurs would end up with Fultz, Saric, Miles Bridges and Gary Trent Jr. But the Sixers really don't have anybody else worth giving up because Simmons and Embiid aren't getting traded.

Pop would have to see something in one of Fultz or Saric that he believes could make them elite.

I honestly don't know what trade the Sixers would be willing to make to get Kawhi that would bring him in.

Probably something like Fultz/Saric, plus the 10 pick plus some more. I would imagine the Spurs would ask for both Fultz and Saric and I'm not sure the Sixers would do that.

Yup, I wouldn’t either.
But, I also would want to drive up the price for somebody ele, so let Pop use us to get more.
Or he can do Brett Brown a solid and trade him to us for $0.25 on the dollar.... :D

I don't ever see Saric or Fultz getting to the level that a healthy Kawhi has reached. I think Saric can be an all-star type of player, and a really good secondary option, or an elite 3rd best player on a team option. I still think Fultz is too much of a question mark, to really grade out what he could be. He's looked good since he returned, but hasn't been asked to do much. The Spurs would have to bank on some improvement out of both Fultz and Saric(which is realistic) and one of those 2 first rounders turning out to be as good as Saric(which might not be as realistic). I think the allocation of assets is intriguing.

And no, you make the trade because it makes you better. You are overrating your guys, just like those 2 Laker fans. They are very good, but neither is Kawhi. Your championship window starts next year if you get Kawhi. It may never open if you stand pat. All you have right now is a collection of really good players. Kawhi is a superstar and you don't have 1 of those.

Seen enough in the last few years to know: You dont trade a 20 year old 6-9 kid like Tatum who is arguably the best shooter to come out in the last 2 or 3 drafts and can play 4 positions and shut down D and is on a rookie contract, unless is a generational player. A Davis is generational, Kawhi is a top 5 or 10 player yes but considering I need to Max him along with Kyrie and Gordon, not what makes us next level, especially in a league moving away from Iso offense.

You are high as a kite if you think the Spurs would make that deal. A late first rounder, a 31 year old and Jaylen Brown? You would "reluctantly" agree to that?

Never said a late first rounder. Celtics have high first rounders coming with memphis and kings, or even 2/3 this year if the balls fall right which I doubt. Not selling away great assets, 3 of them mind you, unless the player is healthy and so unique. If I am the GM I would struggle with that. Spurs will try to sell high I agree, but unless he has a clean bill of health and we know what is causing him and Pop to have a divide it is buyer beware

You're not applying your logic consistently.

Yes you will need to max Kawhi. You will also need to max Davis.

If you think that keeping Tatum is more important than bringing in Kawhi, that's fair. Not sure Brad Stevens agrees but maybe he does.

Obviously there are question marks that need to be addressed by any team before a trade could happen. If he has a serious lingering injury then the Spurs aren't going to trade him.

For the Spurs, if they can't get a max trade out of Kawhi then it is simply not worth trading him. So fans thinking they are going to get Kawhi on the cheap are going to be sorely disappointed.

This I agree with. Maybe they can get a sweet deal like the Pacers got last year.

Paul George ain't Kawhi Leonard. And Paul George broke the legs of the Pacers by making it clear that he planned to sign with the Lakers when he was a FA.

I completely understand your point.

Disagree.

But, there is a argument to be made about losing depth because we all know you'd have to give up a lot more than just Jason.

I like Tatum and his upside.

He could be an elite shooter for many years to come.

But, Kawhi can score and his defense is the reason he would be a no brainer.

This guy can lockdown the other teams best wing player, while forcing the opposition to expend so much energy to match his production, that you trade a guy like Tatum if you can get him.

But, Kawhi would have to be healthy

Kevin O'Connor speculates that the Sixers could trade Fultz, Covington, the Lakers pick, Bayless and one of their draft and stashes for Kawhi.

Not sure if the Sixers would do that but that would be quite a haul for the Spurs.

I would take that in a heartbeat if I am Spurs if thats a #1 pick in this years draft

If it is the No. 1 overall, the Sixers won't offer that package. They wouldn't need to. But the No. 10 plus last year's No. 1 who looks pretty good and a top flight 3 & D defender plus, say, Jonah Bolden seems like a pretty good haul.

Yeah, I like Covington a ton.

Kid earned his contract and is a great feel good story

But, swapping Covington with Kawhi is almost as much of a upgrade as switching Harrison Barnes with Durant, from a talent perspective.

Philly would be frightening.

oh no doubt. I love RoCo but you trade him in an instant for Kawhi. And I would be fine with giving up the No. 10 pick and Fultz as well if that is what took. But the Sixers may not be as comfortable with it.

Philly needs to determine if Fultz is the real deal and if so. how does he fit with Simmons. I could see the Sixers building up Fultz as an asset for moving in the next few years. But first he needs to perform as a #1 pick should
