An upandcomer is anyone who doesn’t have a proven track record at a P5 program.

That’s leaving the door open for a lot of options.

Nebraska is at the very bottom of the barrel amongst P5 programs, so if we’re able to lure away another P5 coach who has a track record of getting to the tournament and winning, I’ll say we finally outdid ourselves.

But I don’t see it happening because Nebraska Basketball is literally the least decorated P5 basketball program in the entire country. And yes, that does mean something. An average human-being would rather take a new job at a well-established company over a startup. People don’t like to gamble their futures and the well-being of their family unless they really have a lot to gain.

Upandcomers, such as what Tim Miles was, has everything to gain by coming to a place like Nebraska.

Do you know how many offers Nebraska AD’s have probably thrown at top-tier coaches that have gotten turned down?

More than you want to know. I’ll put it that way. It would leave you asking “why???? Why won’t they come here?!!!!”

RA am I wrong here?

Not IMO. However, I could be wrong too. Given sMiles record against cretin alone is enough to give someone else a chance. I do believe that sMiles eventually getting fired is inevitable. He was damn lucky the Big 10 sucked this past season. It saved his job for at least another year.

Then why even have the program if we are not going to try and compete.

It's just time to go after and land a big time head coach top 25 he could be the 25th coach for all I care but somebody who can build us to a legit program. I'm not talking overnight I'm willing to grow with a coach that has a proven track record because I understand what our program is. But we have to expect better. We deserve it Stool do you want your kids growing up in a world with shitty Nebrasketball?

We just had a blizzard and have set record lows dating back to the 1800's for weeks on end now.
It's ok to be talking January shit.

Many of the top coaches came into an already established program. They didn't have to build anything, it was handed to them and they have maintained it.

I'm going to jump in here. been away a little while and you guys had quite a discussion.

my biggest problem with Miles right now is that his offense is like . the funks they get into just drives the casual fan such as myself insane. I understand the loss of his best recruiting coach and his best recruit, recruits sometimes do that as they like the assistant more than the HC.

i feel like he needs to go out and hire an assistant that can add some Xs and Os help on the offensive end, i don't really care if he can recruit or not. you make a run this next year with an offense that you can sell to some kids, i think some decent recruits will show up, but if you keep going the way you are going, he'll be out the door soon.

big thing this year imo, is keeping the team together. if guys keep leaving the team every year, Petteway, White, Morrow, then if Cope, Roby or Palmer this year, just sad and Miles deserves to be fired.

There is the real difference between Creighton and Nebraska imo, Creighton has an identity and tends to keep guys around, where as Miles has never found that identity and guys keep leaving.

But don't you think if we had a coach like McDermott we would be able to retain more of our players because we would be winning at a higher level. Just look at the way Nebraska played Michigan in the Big Ten tournament and that tells me everything I need to know about what this team thinks of Miles

that's another good point. but without being in the room i can't really say what that atmosphere is like, but do kinda agree that Timmy isn't pulling the right strings.

The majority of Creighton’s fanbase want McDermott gone.

He’s able to draw in better players because of Creighton’s brand name, but can’t win in the tournament.

I mean, it was kind of a big thing the day after they lost first round in the Big East tourney and then again when they lost first round in the NCAA to a Kansas St team who didn’t even have their best player. The fan reaction took over the twitter world and thee radio.

You mean the majority of the fanbase who have Twitter and cared to tweet about it.

That is no more the majority of the fan base than we in this forum are a majority of Nebraska football fans.
